FLAVOR NOTES: dark honey, baking spice, juniper

Every expert coffee roaster has an innate desire to get in the cupping lab and create a custom blend that tastes like no other. The select few who are able to accomplish this result truly understand the artistic nature of the roasting process and resulting creation. As fans of all the arts, whether visual, performing or coffee roasting, we have named this blend in honor of one of our musical favorites, jazz legend Dexter Gordon. Nicknamed the "Sophisticated Giant", his sound was commonly characterized as being large and bold which is the perfect description for this blend. Originally created out of curiosity in combining coffees from East Africa and the Pacific Isles, the intensity of flavors meld in unique ways to create the best of bright, fruity Ethiopian coffee with the sultry undertones from the faraway islands of the Pacific. We pay homage to artistic expression throughout the world in presenting our version of the world’s oldest blend, Mocha Java, with our large and bold, "Sophisticated Giant Blend".
